Alma Media to launch new digital auction for second-hand cars

Alma Media Corporation                  Press Release                     23 November 2022

ALMA MEDIA TO LAUNCH NEW DIGITAL AUCTION FOR SECOND-HAND CARS

Alma Media will launch a digital car auction for second-hand cars between consumers and car dealerships, and, in the auction, the consumer will be able to sell their car as quickly and easily as possible. The service will start operating in the first quarter of 2023.

According to estimates by Alma Media, a total of nearly 380,000 annual transactions take place between private car sellers and car dealerships in Finland. The service allows the consumer to reach car dealerships all over Finland, compare bids at once and make a deal with the selected car dealership even as quickly as in 48 hours. To put a second-hand car up for sale, one needs the registration number, mileage and a few pictures, and, besides, (s)he is not obligated to accept any bids. If one eventually want to sell the car to a private individual, it is handily to do it in Nettiauto.

“We are developing new kinds of service models in the field of car trade. These are intended to serve both the car trade and the consumer even better than before. The main idea of the service to be launched is that the consumer will quickly receive a bid from the car dealer. This way, the service resolves some of the key pain points on a car's sales path for both parties and offers the consumer a valuable alternative to selling a car themselves”, says Kari Kivelä.

Car dealerships will get a quick and easy way to acquire high-quality second-hand cars

At first, cars that have mileage of less than 200,000 kilometres and are newer than 10 years will be included in the advertising in the service. Due to the price estimate in the service, the sellers' price expectations will be realistic, and the buyer will be a reliable car dealership. Bids can be easily compared, and the consumer can decide on the transaction at their leisure. According to Kivelä, the reception among car dealerships has been very good and encouraging.

Used car auction in a nutshell
