ALMA CONSUMER COMPANIES ALMA MEDIA KUSTANNUS OY AND ALMA MEDIA SUOMI OY TO START STATUTORY PERSONNEL NEGOTIATIONS
In March 2018, Alma Media announced its plan to combine the Alma News & Life business segment and the Alma Regions business segment as Alma Consumer segment. As part of the reorganisation, Alma Media Kustannus Oy and Alma Media Suomi Oy will start statutory personnel negotiations.
In Alma Media Kustannus Oy, the negotiations will concern advertising sales, advertising production, marketing and administration. In Alma Media Suomi Oy, the negotiations will concern marketing and consumer services as well as administration. In the Alma Media Solutions unit, the negotiations will concern product development, marketing and ad operations.
The scope of the negotiations is approximately 120 people. The companies concerned employ approximately 660. According to the preliminary plan, the number of employees may be reduced by a maximum of nine person-years after the planned actions.
In line with Alma Media’s strategy, the objective of Alma Consumer is to accelerate digital business development in content, services and advertising while also ensuring the revenue development of print products. The goal of the restructuring process is to create a new organisational structure with no overlapping functions.
In the negotiations, the parties will discuss the employer’s plans regarding the rationalisation of operations and the potential impacts these measures will have on the employees. The topics to be discussed include, for example, the reorganisation of operations, changes to job descriptions, transfers to other tasks and retraining measures as possible options for redundancies.
