MONSTER OY PRESS RELEASE 1 AUG 2007
MONSTER.FI: EUROPEAN EMPLOYEES SLOW TO ADOPT ENVIRONMENTALISM
A survey by Monster asked nearly 5,000 European employees "How environmentally friendly is your workplace?". The responses were distributed as follows:
25% We are proud of our environmental friendliness (e.g. we switch off the lights and computers every evening).
29% Somewhat, we recycle newspapers and magazines.
37% Not at all, I have not heard of any company initiative to preserve the environment.
9% I don't know.
The answers of Finnish respondents reflect a slightly better situation: 36% were proud of their companies' environmental friendliness and 29% say that they at least recycle newspapers and magazines.
Companies could make a positive environmental impact through small changes in their working methods and habits. The survey, however, indicates that although climate-related issues are politically important, workplaces and employees are slower to adopt environmental thinking.
The results of the most recent Monster poll are based on replies received between June 4 and 18, 2007 from a total of 4,994 respondents throughout Europe. The results are available in Finnish on www.monster.fi/polls.
