Senior AI Solutions Engineer

Would you like to build responsible AI solutions that improve how our businesses work? We are now creating a group-level AI capability for Legal, HR, Finance, Communications and ICT. We are looking for a hands on Senior AI Solutions Engineer who can turn business needs into secure, reliable and responsibly governed AI applications and agents used in everyday work

Your role

You will lead selected AI use cases from discovery to production. Working with process owners and experts, you will shape the solution, write production code, integrate it with enterprise systems, evaluate quality and ensure solutions meet Alma’s security, privacy and responsible-AI requirements before and after launch.

What you’ll get to do

  • Build AI agents, copilots, RAG solutions and workflow automations with appropriate human review.
  • Deliver maintainable applications and integrations across APIs, identity services and cloud environments.
  • Configure agents, tools and related components in environments such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Claude.
  • Select and evaluate models based on quality, safety, latency, data handling and cost.
  • Apply responsible-AI, privacy and security requirements throughout the solution lifecycle, with appropriate controls, transparency and human oversight.
  • Use telemetry and user feedback to improve live solutions and create reusable implementation patterns.

What we are looking for

  • Strong software engineering experience and a track record of shipping production applications or services.
  • Hands-on experience with model APIs, tool calling, RAG and permissions-aware retrieval.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with an application stack such as TypeScript, Java or .NET.
  • Experience developing and troubleshooting in at least one major AI ecosystem.
  • Practical understanding of AI governance, including privacy, security, data handling, model risk, human oversight and responsible enterprise use.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business needs into simple solutions and explain technical and governance trade-offs clearly.

Useful, but not required

  • Experience with Azure, AWS or Google Cloud, enterprise platforms or more than one AI ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of AI security risks such as prompt injection, data leakage and excessive agency.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI regulation, governance frameworks or assurance practices.
  • Experience leading a technical delivery stream or mentoring developers.

You will work closely with the Enterprise Architect, the AI Platform Engineer and business owners. You will translate Alma’s architecture, cybersecurity, privacy and responsible-AI guardrails into solution-level decisions and evidence.

You will join Group IT and report to the Enterprise Architect leading the group-level AI capability. The role can be based in Helsinki, Tampere or Prague, with flexible ways of working.
