Financial Controller, Record to Report

At Alma Media, finance is moving to a shared SAP S/4HANA environment, one country at a time. We are looking for a Financial Controller to own the general ledger of our Finnish companies and to help build the common ways of working that the other countries will adopt.

The role in a nutshell

You are responsible for the general ledger of Alma Media’s Finnish legal entities, ensuring it is accurate and well controlled. You help develop common R2R practices for country rollouts. About half of your time goes to the Finnish ledgers and the rest to developing the group’s common model. This is a permanent role in our Global Finance Operations team.

What you’ll get to do

  • Own the general ledger of the Finnish legal entities: periodic entries, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets and leasing.
  • Prepare audit materials and strengthen internal controls, compliance and data quality.
  • Develop the group chart of accounts and finance master data, and propose changes that make reporting more consistent and transparent.
  • Define common R2R operating models for our shared system environment.
  • Contribute to SAP S/4HANA development and testing, take our common ways of working efficiently into country rollouts, and look for ways to simplify and automate.

What success looks like

  • Clear, well-controlled ledger processes for the Finnish entities.
  • A chart of accounts and R2R model that new countries can adopt efficiently.

What you bring

  • Background as a financial controller or in a similar finance role, with a solid understanding of accounting, balance sheets and reconciliations.
  • Strong technology capability: you learn systems quickly and want to use automation and AI to make finance work better.
  • Analytical mind, attention to detail and respect for clean data.
  • Ability to prepare clear proposals and work with finance, business and technology colleagues.
  • Fluent Finnish and English.
  • A degree in accounting, finance or a related field.

SAP experience, multi-entity or group consolidation experience, and Finnish statutory accounting are advantages.
