Software Developer – Comparison Services

We are looking for a software developer with hands-on PHP experience, who thrives in an empowered product team to join the the Comparison Services development team. 

About us

Our Comparison Services unit operates several leading Finnish digital marketplaces, including Urakkamaailma, Nettimökki, AutoJerry, Etua and Sähkövertailu, that help hundreds of thousands of Finns make smarter decisions every day. We’re part of Alma Media, which means you’ll have the stability and resources of an established media company combined with the pace of a product-focused team.

What you’ll do

You consider yourself an AI-native and work fluently with the AI-powered workflows and adopt new tools effortlessly.

You’ll be a member of a cross-functional development team, building and maintaining the backend systems that power our comparison services. We use AI tools as a natural part of our development workflow. Not as a curiosity, but as a genuine productivity multiplier.

• Develop and maintain backend systems and APIs that serve millions of user interactions
• Take ownership of your work from feasibility studies to production
• Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other developers
• Actively shape how the team adopts and integrates AI-assisted development practices
• Contribute to technical decisions and help us keep our codebase healthy and evolving

What we’re looking for

Must have

• A few years of hands-on PHP experience, you’re comfortable working in a mature codebase and know when to refactor and when to leave well enough alone
• Experience with Laravel or comparable modern PHP frameworks
• Solid understanding of relational databases, primarily MySQL
• Practical experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Augment Code, or similar
• Experience with Git and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions

Nice to have

• Experience with JavaScript, including jQuery
• Familiarity with AWS
• Experience with BigQuery or other data tools

We work in a hybrid model, mainly at Alma House on Helsinki’s Töölönlahti but you’ll also have opportunity to work remotely according to our hybrid work policy. Our offices are accessible.
