Muuttomaailma strengthens practices to promote a more sustainable industry

Alma Media’s Muuttomaailma.fi has strengthened its practices to promote more responsible and ethical operations in the moving industry. Companies using the service are required to comply with legislation, and the validity of the necessary permits is strictly monitored; during the fall of 2024, more than 30 companies have been closed due to insufficient permits.

Alma Media’s Muuttomaailma.fi is Finland’s largest moving service comparison platform, assisting home movers and corporate relocators in planning their moves, comparing service providers, selecting the most suitable moving company, and seeking financing related to the move.

Muuttomaailma aims to simplify and streamline the moving business from the perspective of companies offering moving services as well. Since its establishment, Muuttomaailma has sought to create a fair environment for customer acquisition for moving companies using its service and to help movers find a reliable operator. Moving companies using the service are required to operate in accordance with both Muuttomaailma’s terms of use and the legislation concerning transport permits.

– We want to promote the development of the entire moving industry towards more responsible and ethical practices. That’s why we at Muuttomaailma wanted to strengthen our practices and tackle the problems we noticed before the reform in complying with permits and regulations, says Muuttomaailma’s Service Expert Elli Tuominen

All companies operating on the Muuttomaailma.fi platform have confirmed upon registration that they comply with the legislation, i.e. Traficom’s regulations. Muuttomaailma has begun monitoring the veracity of these claims and checks the validity of companies’ permits directly through Traficom, contacting companies for additional information if necessary.

– If a transport permit is not available and is not provided to the Muuttomaailma service within two weeks of request, we will close the account of the respective company. During the fall of 2024, at least 30 moving companies have been excluded from the service due to permit deficiencies, Tuominen describes.

Muuttomaailma’s tightened practices have been positively received, with both consumers and moving companies praising Muuttomaailma for its efforts towards a more sustainable moving industry.
