Alma Media Corporation       Press release  22 January 2020

ALMA MEDIA EXPANDS ITS COOPERATION WITH DIGITAALINEN ASUNTOKAUPPA DIAS

Alma Media is initiating a strategic partnership with DIAS, a digital service platform for real estate transactions. Alma Talent Oy has also agreed on the acquisition of a 5% shareholding in Digitaalinen asuntokauppa DIAS Oy.

Developed by the Finnish software house Tomorrow Tech, DIAS is a digital platform for real estate transactions that brings together home buyers, sellers, real estate agents, developers and banks. The platform enables the secure and accurate transfer of information, payments and deposits related to real estate transactions. With digital shares, DIAS manages bank approvals, signatures from the buyer and the seller, transfer tax and other payments and the change of ownership in the condominium unit register.

DIAS has enabled digital real estate transactions through paper share certificates since June 2019.

“Digitalisation is considerably changing the operating environment of real estate transactions. Alma Media’s portfolio includes several digital services related to housing such as: Etuovi, the largest housing marketplace in Finland; the KIVI service for real estate agents; and the related real estate and housing services of Alma Talent Information Services. Our goal is to merge our services and those of our partners into an open network in order to offer an increasingly consistent user experience. At the same time, we want to promote the development of the entire housing industry,” says Juha-Petri Loimovuori, CEO of Alma Talent.

DIAS’s principal owner is Tomorrow Tech and the other owners are the banks OP, Danske Bank, Aktia and S-Pankki, operating in Finland. The parties have agreed not to disclose the price of the transaction.

Alma Media’s housing-related digital marketplaces are: Etuovi.com, the largest housing search engine in Finland; Vuokraovi.com, a service specialised in rentals; and Urakkamaailma.fi, a competitive bidding platform for renovation work. Alma Media’s digital services also include the ERP and CRM services of the KIVI system for real estate agents as well as the property information services of Alma Talent Information Services. Alma Talent media, such as Kauppalehti, and Alma’s consumer media, such as Iltalehti and Aamulehti, also cover topics related to homes, housing and housing market trends.
