ALMA MEDIA SUPPORTS FUTURE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY SKILLS WITH EUR 100,000 DONATION

Alma Media Corporation is donating EUR 100,000 to Autoalan Ammattikoulutuksen Edistämissäätiö (Autoalan Säätiö), a Finnish foundation promoting automotive education and research, in honour of the Foundation’s 65th anniversary. The donation is made without consideration and, in line with the Foundation’s renewed strategy, will be used to support automotive education and research and the development of teachers’ professional skills.

The automotive industry is undergoing a significant transformation. Electrification, digitalisation and new business models are rapidly changing the skills required in the industry. The Foundation supports the Finnish education system in cooperation with vocational institutions, universities of applied sciences and universities to help ensure that the automotive industry continues to have access to skilled professionals in the future.

“The automotive industry employs 50,000 people in Finland, and skilled professionals are the backbone of the entire industry. Digitalisation and electrification require continuous investment in teachers’ further training and industry research, which is precisely what our Foundation has focused on for 65 years. Alma Media’s donation is a significant demonstration of Finnish companies’ willingness to take responsibility for the future of the industry. It gives us additional resources to continue our important work in developing the next generation of automotive professionals,” says Matti Pörhö, Chair of the Board of the Foundation.

“The Foundation carries out important long-term work to develop professional skills in Finland. The automotive industry is an important part of the Finnish economy, and its ability to renew itself ultimately depends on having a sufficient supply of skilled professionals. Alma Media’s Board of Directors has decided to use the authorisation granted by the Annual General Meeting to support this work for the public good with a donation during the Foundation’s anniversary year,” says Kai Telanne, CEO of Alma Media.

Established in 1961, Autoalan Ammattikoulutuksen Edistämissäätiö (Autoalan Säätiö) promotes vocational education in the automotive industry by supporting further training for teachers, funding research projects and professorships, and cooperating with educational institutions and education authorities.
