THE UNION OF JOURNALISTS IN FINLAND AND THE FEDERATION OF THE FINNISH MEDIA INDUSTRY REACH AN AGREEMENT IN THEIR COLLECTIVE AGREEMENT NEGOTIATIONS

The Union of Journalists in Finland (UJF) and the Federation of the Finnish Media Industry (FFMI) have reached an agreement in their collective agreement negotiations. The UJF cancelled the strike concerning all media companies and five and seven-day newspapers, in particular, which was due to begin today at 2:00 p.m. The FFMI also cancelled the lockout directed at all newspapers and magazines of the corporate members of the FFMI. Alma Media is satisfied with the solution reached in the negotiations.

“It is essential that we reached a solution in the negotiations. The newspaper publishing industry is facing an exceptionally difficult period in the midst of the economic recession and the digitalisation of the media use. Now more than ever we need the input of all parties to beat the changes in the industry,” says Kai Telanne, Alma Media’s President and CEO.
