Alma Media’s new printing and distribution company named Alma Manu Oy

ALMA MEDIA’S NEW PRINTING AND DISTRIBUTION COMPANY NAMED ALMA MANU OY

Alma Media has consolidated its printing and distribution businesses into a new group-level service unit. The new company, named Alma Manu Oy, brings together Alma Media’s three newspaper printing houses in Tampere, Pori and Rovaniemi as well as the newspaper distribution company Aamujakelu Oy operating in Pirkanmaa, Sea Lapland and Satakunta. Alma Manu Oy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alma Media Corporation, and it has been entered into the Trade Register today.

– Alma Manu strives for cost-efficient printing and distribution through producing, buying and selling services. In our operations, we take into account the wellbeing of both the environment and our staff. We want to be forerunners in this business. We are the first company in Finland to use an electronic delivery book. We were recognised for our high operational quality at the international WAN-IFRA printing quality competition early in the year. And we will be even stronger in future when our new state-of-the-art printing facility in Tampere goes operational in 2013, says Helvi Liukkaala, Managing Director, Alma Manu Oy.

– The name of the new company, Alma Manu, has a reference not only to our role as an Alma Media company but also to manufacturing and manual work. Manu is also a company name with a human touch because it is a man’s nickname. It is like a person working for the benefit of our customers, Ms Liukkaala continues.

The company name was chosen from among entries submitted in a name competition organised for Alma Media staff. The chosen name was suggested by Harri Kainulainen, delivery foreman.
