Alma Media to lease plot for new printing facility from city of Tampere

Alma Media’s investment project to modernise its printing facility in Tampere is moving forward. The company has evaluated several alternative locations and decided to negotiate a land lease with the City of Tampere. The property is located next to the existing printing facility in the Sarankulma district of Tampere. The lease will be on the agenda of the City Board today Tuesday, April 6, 2010.

-After careful evaluation we determined that we can best serve our existing and future customers from Sarankulma. The location has excellent connections to every direction. In addition, we have extremely professional and committed personnel in Tampere, which also influenced the decision, says Helvi Liukkaala, Head of printing and distribution, Alma Media.

Architectural firm Petri Pussinen Oy has been appointed chief designers for the building to be erected on the property.

As announced before, Alma Media will invest a maximum of EUR 50 million in the project. The new printing facility is estimated to be operational in 2013.

Alma Media has three newspaper printing facilities, located in Pori, Tampere and Rovaniemi. The titles printed in Tampere include Aamulehti, Kauppalehti and the major part of Iltalehti.
