Kauppalehti online service to undergo reform
Alma Media Corporation Press Release 5 January 2015 at 10:00 a.m. (EET)
KAUPPALEHTI ONLINE SERVICE TO UNDERGO REFORM
Alma Media’s Kauppalehti online service will undergo a reform affecting its contents, looks and technologies. The first part of the redesigned site to go public on 6 January 2015 will be the news section.
Thanks to the reform, Finland’s leading business media Kauppalehti will be richer, more rigorous and more rapid. The content has been designed to serve the information needs of the Finnish decision-maker in the best possible way throughout the day, including both quick news updates and more in-depth coverage on economics-related events and their backgrounds.
A new arrival on the site is the continuously updated news flow KL Nyt (“KL Now”), which allows the reader to keep up with financial and stock market news using a mobile device. The KL Nyt news flow also includes the Market News targeted at professionals, with a focus on the stock market.
The reform will enable Kauppalehti to provide content with a wider scope. In the future, the site will include the articles of the current day’s Kauppalehti and Kauppalehti Optio; in addition, the editors will be monitoring new thematic areas, such as digital economy, more extensively. Video material will become more common in the news section. Kauppalehti’s extensive network of correspondents will provide reports on the markets most relevant to the Finnish corporate world 24/7. The new keywords on the site will help to organise the content so that it will be easier for the readers to find the pieces they are specifically interested in.
“The readers’ needs and wishes concerning the digital content are changing as the online service is becoming more popular. We are redesigning both our content and the manner of its publication in order to better fulfil these wishes via digital channels. For advertisers, the new site allows more specific targeting and, for instance, new solutions for the challenges posed by corporate communications”, explains Arno Ahosniemi, Editor-in-Chief of Kauppalehti.
“The online service is constantly under development, and more new content will be available already during the first months of the year. After the reform, the subscription limit period for the Kauppalehti online service will be one week. In the future, it will be possible to access five news articles per week without a subscription”, Ahosniemi continues.
The reform also concerns the online service’s technologies, which have been improved to ensure the best possible user experience. The service is best suited for computers and tablet computers. When used with a smartphone, the applications specific for each operating system enable the best reading experience.
