Cloud Solution Architect

We are looking for a Cloud Solution Architect to strengthen Alma Media’s group-level Cloud team and help evolve our cloud platforms in a secure, cost-efficient, and scalable direction. In this role, you will work hands-on with cloud infrastructure and platform solutions while collaborating closely with product development teams, security, and operations. You will be part of a small, highly specialized team that owns Alma Media’s cloud foundations and enables others to build on top of them safely and efficiently.

You will report to the Head of Cloud and operate at group level, with a primary focus on AWS-based environments while supporting a growing footprint on Google Cloud Platform.

What you’ll get to do

  • Build and maintain infrastructure as code, with a strong emphasis on AWS-based solutions and modern automation practices.
  • Contribute to the development of cloud standards, guardrails, and shared patterns that improve security, reliability, and developer experience.
  • Support cloud account provisioning, access management, and platform hardening as part of the team’s operational responsibilities.
  • Participate in operational readiness and incident response practices, ensuring platforms are resilient and well understood.
  • Collaborate with product development teams to advise on cloud architecture choices and help remove structural bottlenecks.
  • Continuously improve cost visibility and efficiency through technical solutions, automation, and informed architectural decisions.
  • Develop and maintain the group-level GitHub Enterprise setup, including access models, security controls, and integrations that support secure and efficient software development.
  • Develop and evolve CloudHealth usage, automation, and data quality to support cloud cost visibility and optimization across Alma Media.
  • Actively contribute to the evolution of the Cloud team from primarily operational work toward more reusable, platform-oriented solutions over time.

What makes you a great fit for this role

  • Strong hands-on experience designing and implementing cloud solutions, especially on AWS.
  • Solid experience with infrastructure as code and automation, such as AWS CDK (TypeScript), CloudFormation, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines (for example GitHub Actions).
  • Ability to work productively in a cloud environment where AWS is dominant, while being comfortable operating across multiple cloud platforms as GCP usage grows.
  • Understanding of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, access control models, and platform hardening.
  • Experience with operational cloud environments, including supporting reliability, availability, and day-to-day platform needs.
  • Willingness to adopt and actively use AI-assisted development tools as part of daily engineering work.
  • Good collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and explain technical topics clearly.
  • Relevant higher education degree or equivalent practical experience.

The Cloud team works as a geographically distributed group, with current team members located in Helsinki and Prague. We are open to candidates based in Helsinki, Tampere, Prague, or Bratislava. The team’s official working language is English.
