Comprehensive schoolers explored working life at Alma

Alma typically organizes work experience (TET) weeks for a group of comprehensive school students twice a year. At the turn of September and October 2025, students once again visited the Alma building in Helsinki to learn about various professions and everyday working life.

The program for Alma’s TET week is designed to provide a comprehensive view of different professions and an opportunity to engage in practical work tasks. In addition, the week includes an independent group project, the outcome of which is presented to Alma employees at the end of the week.

Hello there!

We are the TET interns at Alma Media in the fall of 2025. We wanted to share our experiences from our week in Alma Media’s amazing work environment.

On Monday, we received a project assignment from Jobly, which we worked on together as a group. The topic was artificial intelligence in job searching and working life. We gathered our observations into a slide presentation, which was presented on Friday. The topic was very current and really got us thinking about the significance of AI. It was a pleasure to work together with others and to get to know people we hadn’t met before. The project was a success!

Throughout the week, we attended several presentations about Alma Media’s different business areas and departments. This deepened our understanding of working life. We heard, for example, about marketing, sales, housing services, data, analytics and AI team’s work, digital development front-end team’s tasks, and business media.

On Wednesday, we visited the Tivi CIO event. We gained a new perspective on AI and its impact on people. One of the Alma’s event organizers told us about their work in the event industry. On the same day, we visited the Iltalehti newsroom and got to observe journalists at work. We also got to see the new studio, which was great!

During the week, we enjoyed delicious lunches and desserts at Restaurant Alvari. We were impressed by the clean and modern office spaces.

Finally, we want to thank all Alma Media employees who took time to guide and support us. The week was a unique opportunity for us to get to know the company’s operations and work tasks. Maybe in the future, we’ll meet again in the media industry.

Thank you on behalf of all the TET participants.

Work experience (TET) is a period included in basic education studies during which middle school students get to familiarize themselves with working life by working for a week or two at a particular company.

Alma typically organizes its own TET periods for several students 1–2 times a year. Applications for Alma’s TET periods are submitted through the open call on the TET.fi service. Alma is developing the Finnish TET.fi service together with the Children and Youth Foundation and Jobly. The service brings together all open TET positions across Finland. It is intended both for young people looking for internships and for companies offering placements. The site provides companies with ready-made tools and materials to support the organization of TET periods.
