Material instructions for video advertising

Below you will find Alma Media’s compiled material guidelines for video advertising. With these instructions, you can get started with planning your video ad.

Technical instructions for instream video ads

The video material can be delivered as ready-made VAST material or as a video file. The URL to which clicks on the ad are directed must also be submitted with the materials.

Note! Google Chrome update limits the display of heavy advertising materials. Read more here.

Video:

  • VAST 4.0 (or earlier versions)
  • Format: MP4, webm
  • Codec: H.264
  • Bitrate: 750 – 6000 kbit/s
  • Framerate: 24, 25, 30 FPS
  • Ad moov part to the beginning of the file (Fast Start / Progressive download)
  • File size: max. 4 MB

Audio:

  • Codec: AAC-LC
  • Channels: Stereo
  • Data rate: 384 kbit/s
  • Sample rate: 48 kHz
  • Sound levels: -23 LUFS (EBU R128 standard)

VPAID

VPAID 2.0 (application / JavaScript) compatible tag

Outstream

  • File format: MP4
  • File size: max. 4 MB
  • Maximum length: Campaign video max 30s. (recommended 5–15s.) and Article video max 10s.
  • Remember to include the destination URL!

Technical instructions for outstream video ads

Outstream video advertising

Outstream ads are displayed alongside articles on desktop and mobile. The video starts playing automatically without sound when the ad enters the user’s screen and stops if the visitor navigates away. The final frame of the video remains visible in the ad placement.

Different pixel sizes scale to the correct size as long as the aspect ratio is correct.

  • Stereo audio 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz
  • Audio levels: according to the EBU R128 standard, -23 LUFS

  • Duration: max. 30 s
  • File size: max. 4 MB
