A cookie is a small text file that is save on your terminal equipment and contains a nameless, numerical identifier which we may use to identify and measure the different browsers that visit our services. A similar identifier to cookie is used also in mobile applications. Cookies and other techniques do not harm your terminal equipment or files. They cannot be used to spread viruses and they do not enable to search information on your hard drive. Also third parties set cookies or use similar techniques on Alma’s sites.
We use cookies and similar techniques to improve our services, to show relevant advertising and to tailor the content of our services or marketing messages. We help advertisers to target advertising to such Alma’s users which have visited advertiser’s web shop and watched a particular product. Similarly, Alma’s advertising may be targeted on third party services outside Alma’s network based on user’s visit to Alma’s services.
We may combine behavioural data collected via cookies and similar techniques to personally identifiable information, such as name or email address but more typically we use demographic information, such as age place of residence, to enrich observed behavioural data. In this way we may create segments on users of our websites. These segments are compiled of information that relates to a group that is estimated to act similarly or to possess similar features, such as people likely to be interested in sports (interest segment), people likely to buy a car or a new apartment (intent segment), people living in Helsinki metropolitan area (geographic segment) or people aged 20-30 years (demographic segment). When targeting advertising, we may to find segments that interest advertising instead of targeting advertising to you personally.
So-called first party cookies are set by the domain the user is visiting. In addition, our services contain third party cookies, such as cookies of advertising networks, measurement and analytics services, advertising technology providers and social media services. The privacy terms and condition of social media services shall apply in connection with processing of personal data in social media services.
We use, for example, Google Analytics to measure the use of our services. We use Google Analytics remarketing features (remarketing, similar audiences, Google Display network impression and interest reporting and Google Analytics User ID feature). Google Analytics employs cookies that are stored to your computer in order to facilitate an analysis of your use of the site. Consequently, such data may be processed on servers that are located outside user’s country of residence. Disclosure of data to third parties: Disclosure of data to third parties e.g. disclosure of segments to campaigns. Data is primarily in such a format that it cannot be used to personally identify an individual.
Linking devices: Allow processing of a user’s data to connect such user across multiple devices and use of such data for the above-mentioned purposes.
Social Media: To identify the user in social media services, to select and deliver advertisements, to enable log-in with social media account, to participate in conversation and comments and to share information easily in social media services.
