ALMA TALENT BECOMES MILLENNIUM TECHNOLOGY PRIZE PARTNER

Alma Talent has started cooperation with Technology Academy Finland (TAF) as a Millennium Technology Prize partner for 2020–2022. The partnership will boost dialogue and cooperation between the media, industry, the academic world and public organisations on topics related to innovations and sustainable development. Today, sustainable groundbreaking innovations of global importance are increasingly created through cooperation between different organisations and fields.

- Through our news content and digital services, we participate in building the society of the future, solving problems and creating a foundation for sustainable economic growth and the individual’s freedom to choose. We want to support the Millennium Technology Prize because a healthy and sustainable economy and future competitiveness increasingly depend on new innovations that enable the reform of structures, methods and business operations, says Juha-Petri Loimovuori, CEO at Alma Talent.

The Millennium Technology Prize of one million euros is an award for technological innovations that improve the quality of people’s lives. The President of the Republic of Finland is the Patron of the prize. The prize is presented every two years by the Technology Academy Finland. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the winner announcement and the award ceremony for the 2020 Millennium Technology Prize has been postponed to 18 May 2021.

At Alma Talent, Tekniikka&Talous, the leading innovation and technology media in Finland, has the most central role in the partnership.

- Tekniikka&Talous is the principal voice of creative engineering in Finland. Since it was established, the Millennium Technology Prize has been an important source of content for us. Therefore, we are very happy about this partnership, says Harri Junttila, Editor-in-Chief of Tekniikka&Talous.

- Through the Millennium Technology Prize, Finland rewards innovations that can resolve global challenges of our time. The partnership with Alma Talent improves our opportunities for discussion on the benefits and effects of technology and innovations more widely within the local community, says Markku Ellilä, CEO at Technology Academy Finland.

The other Millennium Technology Prize partners are Aalto University, FIM, Halton, Metso-Outotec, Metsä Group, Neste, Nokia and Vaisala.
