Basic materials must be delivered by noon, no later than three (3) full working days before the start of the campaign (png, gif, jpg and third-party tag materials). Special materials must be delivered by noon five (5) full working days before the start of the campaign.

All materials and any tracking pixels must be HTTPS-compatible.

In the subject field, please indicate the name of the advertising customer and the campaign period. Also indicate the following information in the body of the message:

1) name of the advertiser
2) campaign period
3) advertising solution (e.g. Alma RON, mobile network)
4) Number of impressions
5) URL for redirecting clicks on the advertisement

Advertising materials can be delivered in picture file formats (jpg, gif and png) or alternatively, they can be delivered as third-party tags.

General instructions for using video and sound in advertisements

Sound can be used in materials. Sound starts in 0,5 second delay after mouse-over, and ends when cursor is taken from over the advertisement. If materials are using auto-play, videos must start without sound. User must be able to stop the video.

We recommend using Alma Media’s standardized video solutions, that have been tested for performance. If video is supposed to be used in other formats, implementation must be done in accordance with separate material guidelines.

    Mobile parade

    Size: Image creative 600 x 600 px, 3rd party tag and HTML5 creatives 300 x 300 px.

    Format: PNG, JPG, GIF, 3rd Party tag, HTML5 , max 60 kb

      Rich Media solutions

      Mobile rich media -solutions are available on iOS- and Android -devices and part of Windows -devices. Materials are targeted only on devices where they operate correctly.

Celtra's AdCreator Support site provides detailed instructions for producing campaign creatives, analysing campaign results and using the system.

      Swipe Cube

      Rotating cube with 3-5 images.

      Cube rotates once automatically, after automatic rotation user can swipe material manually.

      Each side of cube can redirect to webpage, have click-to-call, click-to-calendar, click-to-apple-store or click-to-play-store function.

      Material can also be rendered as a standard swipe ad, so the ad does not rotate but slides from side to side.

      Swipe cube guidelines:

      • Size on the page: 300x300
        (Also 3rd party swipe cube creatives must be 300 x 300 px )
      • Images for swipe cube must be provided as an sprite -image, see example on the right
      • (300 x 900 – 3 sides, 300 x 1200 – 4 sides, 300 x 1500 – 5 sides)
      • Max 120 kb
      • Format PNG, JPG
      • Every side of the cube can have separate redirect url
      • Alma Media builds swipe cube without further costs from delivered images.

      Video parade

      Part of banner is reserved for video. Can include text and link to webpage.

      Video starts when clicked.

      Video parade guidelines:

      • Image 600 x 600 px, which has 600 x 338 px space reserved for video
      • Image format JPG, PNG, GIF
      • Video materials: MP4 (Codec H.264, Audio codec AAC, resolution 640x360)
      • Video max 3 mb, max length 1 minute
      • First frame of the video must not be black

      Store Locator

      Material redirects to map-view, which for example shows advertisers nearest office.

      Store locator guidelines:

      • Image 600 x 600 px
      • Max 60 kb
      • Format PNG, JPG, GIF
      • Advertiser will provide office name- and address details in Excel file.
      • Advertisers logo can be added on top of the map and on office locations
      • Color of map elements can be changed.

      Guidelines for listing offices:

      • Office details must be added in excel format in example file
      • Obligatory details: Office name, address, postal code, city
      • Optional details: Latitude and longitude -coordinates, phone number, email -address, webpage
      • Custom paragraph can be used for additional info, such as opening hours, sales or other info.

      Click-to-calendar

      Click opens calendar reminder, which user can save on device’s calendar.

      Click-to-calendar guidelines:

      • Image 600 x 600 px, 3rd party tag materials must be 300 x 300 px.
      • Max 60 kb
      • Format JPG, PNG, GIF
      • Advertiser provides materials where click-to-calendar functions is implemented, with details of the calendar reminder. Title, text content, event start- and end date and reminder timing. For example 30 min before event.

      Scratch ad

      User can scratch or wipe surface of the ad. Surface can be e.g. rain, ice, lot surface. Underneath reveals clickable ad.

      Scratch ad guidelines:

      • Two images 600 x 600 px. Scratch surface and revealing image.
      • Format JPG, PNG, GIF
      • Scratch surface must have clear prompt to scratch/wipe.

      Interscroller

      • Video/audio file size 10 mb
      • Video length max 30 s., recommended length 15 s.
      • Image/video size 768 x 1230 px
      • Adding seethrough *.png files on the image/video is also possible. The graphics are then shown on top of the image/video.

      HTML5 materials

      Technologies

      • Using light libraries in materials is permitted. It is recommended that the libraries are included in the materials package. Use of jQuery is not recommended.
      • The external loading of large font files is not recommended. The sizes of font files must be included in the calculation of kilobyte limits. A font can only be included in the package if the advertiser holds the relevant licence.
      • If data is retrieved from external servers, the server must have sufficient capacity to handle the traffic volume of the publisher’s website.
      • Connection errors must be taken into account in the functionality of the materials.
      • The effect of the materials on computing performance must be taken into account (maximum CPU load approximately 20%)
      • All external data must be loaded using the HTTPS protocol.

      Required functionality

      • The pointer must change on clickable areas to clearly indicate that there is a link there
      • Links must open in new tabs

      File sizes

      Initial loading

      • The advertisement’s initial loading size must be minimized. This can be achieved by optimizing images and files and loading larger files after the page has loaded.
      • The size requirements for materials and recommended maximum kilobyte sizes for their initial loading are shown below.

      Lazy load/polite load

      • Refers to loading files included in the materials only after the page has been loaded.
      • Loading files must take place no earlier than one second after the DOMContentLoaded – event.
      • This must be used if the size of the materials exceeds the kilobyte limits. The initial load file size must be within the kilobyte limit.
      • While loading additional data after the initial load is possible, unnecessary loading must be avoided.

      Links

      • Links in the materials must be made using the window.open(url, …) command or as normal <a> tags
      • For materials produced using Adobe Edge, links must be created using the compositionReady event.
      • Clicks may not be registered in all materials—for example, if the clickable areas are created dynamically

      Delivering materials

      When delivering materials, the advertiser must indicate what browsers the materials are compatible with. A back up image may be displayed on incompatible browsers. The normal website kilobyte limits apply to back up images.

      HTML5 materials must be delivered:

      • zip archives that contain all files used in the materials. The index.html file must be in the root of the zip archive. The content of the advertisement is displayed inside an iframe.
      • 3rd party tag

      HTML5 files run via tags must also comply with these specifications.

      Perfomance-based marketing

      Please take the following special requirements concerning performance-based advertising into account, along with the general instructions concerning materials.

      • For each campaign, the advertiser must deliver at least three (3) advertising formats:
        • panorama 980 x 120 px
        • MPU 300 x 250 px
        • extended large banner 160 x 600 px

      Changing the creative​

      During a campaign the campaign creatives can be changed once a week

      Materials with errors

      Alma Media is not responsible for errors in materials, or if the campaign is delayed due to errors in materials

      Detailed creative guidelines

      • Campaign creatives can be delivered as jpg, gif or png-pictures or as third party tags
      • No Flash materials
      •  Maximum size of materials 40 kt
      • With every piece of material, there should also be a target URL to the landing page, which will be added when ad is downloaded in the system
      • The creatives need to be clickable throughout
      • No voice nor video should be included
      • The creative should activate the target audience (competition, offer etc.)
      • The creative need to clearly show the advertiser's name or logo
      • Alma Media has the right to refuse publishing inappropriate materials or materials that do not meet the requirements listed above

      Inread Video

      Inread video is shown in between article paragraphs on desktop and on mobile devices. Video starts automatically without sound. Last frame of the video is left on the ad placement. Inread video can be targeted with geo, section and time parameters. On mobile devices inread video is shown on iOS and Android devices. (Not in applications or Windows phones.)

      Videoparade

      Alma Media hosts video and creates technical implementation

      Videoparade includes these elements:

      Programmatic native advertising

      • Programmatic native advertising can be purchased with a deal via Appnexus, Adform and DBM demand-side platforms

      • The buyer can send the DSP’s creative id to: programmatic@almamedia.fi , and the deal will be activated once the material has been approved
