The way Alma Media processes data conforms to the Personal Data Act and other current statutes in Finnish law concerning the protection of personal data.
 
The personal data of persons visiting the Almamedia.fi website (name, address, email address, telephone number) are collected only with their consent; it is information that they themselves provide for example when sending feedback to Alma Media or when ordering material. Names are not stored on any mailing lists apart from those on which a user has specifically requested to be put, and the names are not passed on to third parties.
 

To remove an address from mailing lists, send a request for this to almamedia@almamedia.fi.
 
Statistical information is collected from visits by users about the following matters:

• pages visited
• length and time of visit
• arrival page
• departure page
• website with link used for visit
• search machine providing link for visit
• operating system
• browser
• band width available
• search phrases and words
• IP address, host and domain name

The above items of information cannot be combined and the data collected from them is presented as statistics. Individual items of information are not collected or stored about visitors. The system does not retain information, for example, about an individual who came from a certain address and looked at certain pages.
 

Cookies

 
Almamedia.fi uses temporary cookies on its website. A cookie is a small file that is transferred to the user’s computer and helps the www service to maintain a session during a visit, for example using the text size chosen by the visitor. It is not possible to identify individual visitors with the cookies used. The cookies transferred from these pages do not make it possible to examine information on the user’s hard disk.
 
Alma Media does not store or study the information passed on by the cookies. Users may prohibit cookies from their browser, but this may cause problems when using the website or cause it not to work at all on their computer.
