Alma Media merged the publishing companies of its Northern Newspapers

Alma Media Corporation   Press release   31 October 2008

ALMA MEDIA MERGED THE PUBLISHING COMPANIES OF ITS NORTHERN NEWSPAPERS

The publishing companies of Alma Media’s three regional newspapers in northern Finland, Kainuun Sanomat, Pohjolan Sanomat and Lapin Kansa, have been merged into a new company named Pohjois-Suomen Media Oy. The merger was implemented in accordance with the plan disclosed in May 2008 and it has been entered into the Trade Register today.

The merger will not affect the independent publishing of the newspapers published by Pohjois-Suomen Media Oy.

The merger aims at streamlining the organisational structure and standardising financial and other internal administrative processes of the newspapers. It also allows for more flexible development of the cooperation between the newspapers. The merger has no direct effects to the employees.
