MASCUS OY PRESS RELEASE 29.3.2004 Mascus marketplace to enter Poland Mascus (, the leading North-European marketplace for used equipment, is entering the Polish market. The marketplace began operating in Polish this month. Finnish construction equipment and farming machinery dealers gain an easy access to the Polish market. Simply by placing their machines on Mascus in Finnish they are automatically presented to thousands of Polish visitors in Polish. Mascus has also invested in marketing in the Baltic States and Russia. Export opportunity for Scandinavian dealers In terms of GDP, Poland represents almost two thirds of the EU enlargement in May. The economy has a healthy growth rate and the demand for used equipment continues to be strong. Last year Poles imported 30,000 used trucks and 1,000 construction machines mainly from Germany, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia. The domestic market for used equipment is also growing. Furthermore, the Poles are looking for export opportunities to Russia and Ukraine. "The Polish market is of great interest to us. We believe it offers new business opportunities to our clients. Within the first few weeks we have had thousands of people searching for used equipment on the Polish site. They have been mainly studying German, Scandinavian and UK machines. The domestic Polish market is also developing and therefore Polish dealers are interested in the Internet-based marketing and stock management systems that Mascus provides", says Kaisa Vikkula, Managing Director of Mascus. Almost 500 machine manufacturers and dealers from 14 different countries are marketing their used equipment through the Mascus marketplace. In total there are over 11,000 used trucks, construction machines, tractors, forest machines, and pieces of material handling equipment for sale. The value of these machines amounts to 300 million euros. One quarter of the supply changes every month. Also a private seller can input his own machine for sale and pay 48 euros online for a two-month ad. Every month 150,000 visitors search for used equipment on Mascus. The marketplace facilitates international trade of used equipment as it is available in 9 languages; in Polish, English, German, French, Russian and the Scandinavian languages. It helps the buyer to find the right machine in one’s own mother tongue. The buyer contacts the seller to negotiate the deal. If the right machine is not available at a given moment the buyer can post a want ad free of charge. Sellers are informed about the need immediately. Poles to benefit from the pan-European market Mascus marketplace facilitates Polish dealers to become part of the pan-European used equipment markets. All supply is in one place. "It is easier to find interesting machines to customers from abroad as one can do it in one’s own mother tongue. Furthermore, dealers can market their own stock on the marketplace. Already 11 Polish construction machine and truck dealers are marketing their used stock through the marketplace. The number of Polish machines and trucks for sale is soon expected to amount to 400 units", explains Tomasz Odrobinski, who is in charge for the Polish market in Mascus. Mascus Ltd.
