Alma Media has sold its property in Sarankulma, Tampere, to a real estate company owned by Nordisk Renting Oy. The property comprises a 7.3 hectare site plus an industrial and office building of approx. 33,000 square metres. About 20,000 square metres of the property is occupied by the Aamulehti newspaper printing plant. The Sarankulma property was previously used in its entirety by Alma Media but this spring Aamulehti’s editorial staff were relocated to the centre of Tampere, releasing about 10,000 square metres of office space. This space has since been let to outside companies. The property was sold for FIM 106 million, on which Alma Media will enter a profit of slightly over FIM 59 million under other income in its second-quarter results. "The transaction supports Alma Media’s strategy. It will enable us to reduce our balance sheet and at the same time release capital for our core business," states Executive Vice President Risto Takala, who is responsible for the Group’s real estate assets.
