ALMA MEDIA AGAIN THE BEST NORDIC MEDIA COMPANY IN CARBON DISCLOSURE PROJECT

For the second year running, Alma Media has been rated the Nordic countries’ top-ranking media company in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) initiative. On the international scale Alma Media is ranked as one of the top five companies in the media industry. The CDP released its Nordic report, which maps out risks and opportunities related to climate change, on 21 October 2011 in Stockholm. Alma Media participated in the initiative for the fifth time.

“In recent years, Alma Media has placed a strong emphasis on developing its corporate responsibility within the theme of sustainable media. It is great that our efforts are also being recognised in international initiatives such as the CDP. Environmental matters will continue to have a prominent position in our operations at the beginning of next year, when we publish our study carried out by the Technical Research Centre of Finland about the environmental effects of print and online media. The topic has yet to be studied anywhere in the world, so our study will provide comparable data on the subject for the first time,” says Rauno Heinonen, Vice President, Corporate Communications and IR.

The CDP, which is carried out annually, is an international climate change initiative aimed at listed companies, in which about 3000 companies analyse the risks and opportunities posed to them by climate change and report on their annual carbon dioxide emissions. The results of the initiative are targeted at investors, and around 550 institutional investors around the world make use of CDP results in their investment decisions.
