ILTALEHTI PLANS TO REORGANISE ITS OPERATIONS
 
Publishing company Iltalehti will start statutory personnel negotiations concerning all employees. The planned objective for the negotiations is the extensive reorganisation of operations.
 
The purpose of the statutory personnel negotiations is to examine the future of the various services within Iltalehti and to identify measures that take the changes in media consumption into account. The objective for the negotiations is to improve quality, reduce costs and to ensure that all printed will be published also in the future with the current publication frequency.
 
In connection with the statutory personnel negotiations, the majority of the temporary work force (approximately 60 persons in total) will be offered an opportunity to have a permanent job contract. The maximum need for resource reductions is planned to be 30 man-years.
 
The objective for the negotiations is to achieve means to reduce the number of man-years without lay-offs.
 
Iltalehti, part of Alma Media Group, is the publisher for afternoon paper Iltalehti, appearing six times a week; its weekly supplements Ilona and TV-Jätti; and online services iltalehti.fi, telkku.com and vuodatus.net. The circulation of Iltalehti is 131 150 (audit 2007). The circulation is estimated to decrease approximately by 6% in 2008. In 2008, Iltalehti.fi took the position of the most popular Finnish online service with over 1.6 million weekly visitors.
