Alma Media Corporation      Press release     8 October 2013 at 2:00 p.m. (EEST)

ALMA MEDIA THE ONLY MEDIA COMPANY IN THE NORDIC CLIMATE INDEX

Alma Media’s corporate responsibility efforts are recognised in the international Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) 2013 climate change report on listed companies. As the only company in the media field, Alma Media has achieved a position in CDP’s Nordic Climate Disclosure Leadership Index (CDLI), which comprises the companies that achieve the highest scores in the report. The Finnish event to announce the results of the Nordic 260 Climate Change Report is held on 8 October 2013 in Helsinki.

Alma Media’s high score reflects the company’s commitment to collect and provide comprehensive climate data and its understanding of climate change related issues affecting the company. The Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index comprises the organisations that achieve a score within the top 10% of the sample assessed.

– Our inclusion in the Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index is the result of hard work and perseverance. Alma Media has had a strong focus on developing its Sustainable Media programme for corporate responsibility and the compilation of comprehensive environmental data. We are pleased that these efforts are recognised in international initiatives such as the CDP, says Kai Telanne, President and CEO of Alma Media.

– Companies that score highly enough to be included in the Climate Disclosure Leadership Index are responding to the call for greater corporate climate accountability. They have demonstrated leading practice for the measurement of greenhouse gas emissions and energy use and transparency of their climate change strategy, says Paul Simpson, Chief Executive Officer of CDP.

Published annually and aimed at listed companies, the international CDP initiative invites thousands of companies to analyse the risks and opportunities associated with climate change and report on their annual carbon dioxide emissions. The CDP results are aimed at investors, with over 700 institutional investors around the world utilising them in making investment decisions.
