Redesigned Kauppalehti launches today

Alma Media Corporation Press release May 7, 2012 at 9:00am (EEST)

REDESIGNED KAUPPALEHTI LAUNCHES TODAY

Kauppalehti, with both its content and appearance redesigned, launches today, May 7. The redesign covers both the printed paper and the online version. At the same time, the range of subscription options is revamped.

The renewed Kauppalehti separates the contents of the paper and the website. The daily paper will look into the future, while the online news content will stay on the pulse of the moment even more closely than before.

The daily news stream will open up for the online Kauppalehti reader instantly, but it will no longer be recapped in the next day’s printed paper.

The editorial content of the printed paper will focus on exclusive news, as well as comment and background for important events. General news items will be covered with a more analytical and forward-looking touch than before.

-The view of the printed paper will change. We strive to be more solution-focused than reactive, says Hannu Leinonen, Executive Editor-in-Chief, Kauppalehti.

-The paper will provide solution alternatives instead of just reporting problems. This also means that we will be presenting more strongly our editorial points of view.

In the wake of the content redesign, Kauppalehti’s subscription options have been revamped according to readers’ wishes. From now on, it is possible to subscribe only to Kauppalehti’s digital version. In addition to Kauppalehti’s digital replicas, Kauppalehti Digitilaus (“the Kauppalehti Digital Subscription”) includes other business news services, such as Markkinauutiset (“the Market News”) feed that follows the stock exchange in real time. Both print and digital contents can also be combined through a Kauppalehti VIP subscription.

A new subscription option, Uutistilaus (“News Subscription”), is aimed at heavy users of the Kauppalehti’s online news offering. It provides unlimited access to the news. Without a subscription, the number of freely available news items will be limited to 25 per month.

-We believe that the redesigned content in both the printed paper and the online service will help our readers better keep up to date with what’s happening in business and the economy and understand the background of events. The new subscription models provide more options that enable readers to select the most suitable one for their personal reading and usage habits. The idea is to further strengthen Kauppalehti’s position as Finland’s leading business medium and a success factor, Juha-Petri Loimovuori, Kauppalehti’s Managing Director, emphasises.
