Alma Media to join startup accelerator

Alma Media Corporation                        Press release                           5 March 2015 at 10:00 a.m. EET

ALMA MEDIA TO JOIN A STARTUP ACCELERATOR

Alma Media and the telecommunications group DNA have joined the first round of the acceleration programme Star-Tap focusing on digital service innovations. The goal of the programme is to strongly intensify the collaboration with innovative growth companies.

Major companies in Finland and abroad have increased their investments in growth company collaboration, which presents opportunities to reform the industries in the rapidly changing environment. Startup companies can develop and test new business concepts quickly and smoothly but require references, sales channels and cash flow. The Star-Tap programme has been developed to meet the demands of both major companies and growth companies.

“Alma Media aims to develop multichannel content, create new mobile solutions, grow digital services and exploit data in a versatile manner. Collaboration with growth companies offers new opportunities for fast and agile progress. Alma Media, on the other hand, offers its partners a channel to accelerate their growth”, says Alma Diverso’s Senior Vice President Minna Nissinen.

Among the startup companies registered for the programme, companies will be selected based on chosen themes and the aim is to launch commercial collaboration with these companies and together develop new products and services. The programme does not primarily aim at equity investments but instead at product development, subcontracting and reselling cooperation with commercial terms. KoppiCatch Ltd is responsible for the execution of the programme with changing themes.

Alma Media and DNA will host the first programme and are searching for growth companies especially from the following fields:

  • Digital advertising: new, innovative solutions for advertising and targeting
  • Smart living room: new concepts for video, entertainment and Internet of things
  • E-commerce: conversion analytics, online customer experience and purchase experience
  • Media: new solutions for news media, offer media and multichannel audience measurement

Growth companies interested in Alma Media’s and DNA’s collaboration are invited to sign up at koppicatch.com/star-tap.
