Alma Media Corporation                Press Release              18 August 2017 at 9.00 am

ALMA MEDIA AND BAUER MEDIA START COOPERATION IN RADIO NEWS REPORTING

In October, Iltalehti that belongs to the Alma News & Life business segment, will start to produce news broadcasts for Bauer Media’s biggest radio stations, Radio Nova and Iskelmä. The customised news to be produced for the stations will be broadcast every hour: on week days 17 times between 6 am and 10 pm and on weekends 15 times between 8 am and 10 pm.

Radio Nova is Finland’s most popular commercial radio station with 1.3 million weekly listeners. Iskelmä has as many as 700,000 listeners a week. (source: National Radio Survey, KRT).

Iltalehti has produced news for Radio Nostalgia since the beginning of the year and for Business FM since the spring. Together, Radio Nostalgia and Business FM reach around half a million weekly listeners. The cooperation agreement with Bauer Media has no effect on the partnerships in question.

We want to develop our news service and the cooperation with Alma Media strengthens the diversity of our news operations. Our goal is to be the country’s best radio media company offering and transmitting news services to listeners also in the future. The cooperation now starting with our media brands also opens up possibilities to find new methods to encounter consumers in the middle of the accelerating transformation in media use that is taking place right now, says Sami Tenkanen, CEO of Bauer Media Oy.

Iltalehti’s news on the radio has had a good reception among listeners. According to feedback, we have taken the news closer to ordinary people. We invest in more coverage in, among other things, foreign news reporting.  For us, Bauer Media is the ideal partner with a strong focus on the listener and quality, states Iltalehti’s Publisher Kari Kivelä.

Bauer Media is Finland’s biggest radio media company: its stations include Radio Nova, Iskelmä, KISS, Radio City, SuomiRock, Radio Pooki and Play Radio that reach close to three million listeners every week. Bauer Media’s websites are Voice.fi, Radionova.fi, Iskelma.fi, Radiocity.fi, Kiss.fi, Radiosuomirock.fi and Asema.net.
